ZweGiele x Prolicht

In collaboration with Prolicht, ZweGiele conceived PLUQ IN — a lighting system that does more than illuminate. It delivers power where you light, introduces built-in acoustic comfort, and turns infrastructure into

an aesthetic element. Through this partnership, Prolicht embraces a design language that is raw, bold, and deeply referential to Swiss and Austrian industrial heritage — all

while delivering technical performance at the highest level.

ZweGiele

ZweGiele

The Swiss duo ZweGiele — architect Christoph Vollenwyder and designer and architect Lino Amati — bring a rare synergy of structural thinking, object design, and visual identity. Their multidisciplinary approach, rooted in architecture, interior design and product design, consistently crosses the boundary between function and expression. With their signature clarity, honesty in material, and respect for spatial logic, ZweGiele help Prolicht extend its portfolio into a new territory: lighting as infrastructure, design as utility, ambience as experience.

The story behind Pluq In

The story of PLUQ IN began at the Hotel Management School Thun, an educational institution housed in a historic building. When ZweGiele were tasked with upgrading the learning environment, they encountered a familiar challenge: how to bring modern technology and power access into old architectural structures — without destroying their character. The project revealed a universal truth: in contemporary education and work environments, power supply means independence. Students panic when their batteries run out — energy defines how we study, work, and connect. That moment sparked the idea for PLUQ IN: a system that doesn't hide the infrastructure but celebrates it — transforming visible power lines, plugs, and cables into a design statement. The signal color orange was chosen deliberately: a bright, energetic hue that instantly communicates where power is available. What started as a practical necessity became a visual language.

A manifesto for visible energy

A manifesto for visible energy

From its origin in Thun, PLUQ IN evolved into a homage to Austria's industrial culture of the 1970s and 1980s — an era when workshops and production halls proudly displayed their functionality. Compressed air hoses and power cables spiraled down from the ceiling, delivering energy where it was needed — direct, unapologetic, visible. ZweGiele reinterpreted this authenticity for a new generation of spaces: coworking zones, campuses, and creative studios. The three-dimensional acoustic panels mirror the rhythm of these suspended energy lines, while the coupling holders — inspired by ice cream cone stands — bring a touch of humor and human warmth to the precision of industrial design.
