BATWING LENS
INDIRECT LIGHTING FOR LOW CEILINGS
UNIQUE ELEGANT SUBTLE
The development of the Batwing Lens began as a real challenge for both lighting designers and architects: How could one achieve indirect, uniform lighting on low ceilings without distracting light sources, without shadows, and with an even distribution of light?
It is true that conventional lenses and diffusers are useful and effective in many scenarios, especially in rooms with high ceilings or where there are large distances between the light source and the ceiling. Under these conditions, uniform light distribution and a visually pleasing light pattern are achieved.
However, with lower ceiling heights or suspended profiles mounted close to the ceiling, traditional solutions have some limitations: the light becomes more concentrated, which can create more pronounced light spots and visible differences in brightness on the ceiling and walls.

The first image illustrates the hot spots that can occur with conventional indirect lenses at low ceiling heights. The second image illustrates the light distribution provided by the Batwing lens without the harsh transitions.

The first image shows the uneven light distribution that can result from using conventional indirect lenses in rooms with low ceilings. The second image shows how the Batwing lens achieves uniform light distribution.
When designing the Batwing lens, our goal was to refract and direct light beams in such a way that they would produce uniform lighting even in challenging environments.
This innovatively designed lens makes this possible thanks to its flat, precise geometric shape, regardless of the fixture’s height or orientation. Finally, we have made this vision a reality: with the Batwing lens, we offer an optimal solution for low ceilings and suspended luminaires, while conventional solutions remain the ideal choice for high ceilings and luminaires installed further from the ceiling.

A LENS THAT RESHAPES LIGHT
The Batwing lens is not just any diffuser; it is a true innovation in indirect lighting solutions. Its special geometry and unique surface structure distribute light to create a wide area of uniform brightness, transforming the feel and appearance of the room where it is installed. The light beam has been integrated in such a way that it emerges in a wide curve, achieving uniform ceiling illumination. This uniformity is achieved even in installations where the fixtures are very close to the ceiling, preventing uneven lighting.
UNIQUE IN DESIGN AND FUNCTION
The Batwing lens differs from conventional lenses in its innovative combination of surfaces within a single linear lens. As a result, each surface is specifically optimized for efficiency and uniformity. The lens’s fine micro-convex structure on the upper surface ensures a rotationally symmetric mixing of light rays, resulting in a completely uniform light distribution.

DIRECTED LIGHT REFRACTION
The Batwing lens directs light in a unique way: its geometric design ensures that light is distributed indirectly across the ceiling, creating uniform illumination. Above a certain angle of incidence, the light beam is refracted inward rather than outward, creating highly efficient indirect lighting of the ceiling surface.
WHERE DOES THE NAME COME FROM?
The name has been used in the lighting industry for a long time and derives from the shape of the light distribution curve. In Batwing lenses, this curve closely resembles the shape of a bat’s wings.

VERSATILE APPLICATIONS
The Batwing lens is designed to serve as a universal solution for a wide range of luminaire families. Its modular design allows for flexible adjustment in length and width and easy pairing with a wide range of LEDs.
Currently, we use SLIDER or SLIDER-F and HYPRO or HYPRO-F in our products, but their potential goes far beyond that: the Batwing lens is designed for use in all future profile systems. This flexibility makes it the ideal choice for all indirect lighting solutions and allows us to offer future lighting innovations with perfect light distribution.
